The conference “Connecting and Protecting Our Seas” in Monaco focuses on environmental initiatives in the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas and will target the UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources.
Alfa Laval’s president and CEO Tom Erixon will participate in a panel discussion on the theme “The Business Case for the Oceans & Next Steps”. Peter Leifland, President Alfa Laval Marine Division, will talk on the theme “Technologies and how to tackle environmental challenges”.
Alfa Laval offers several solutions in the marine environmental area. As an example, Alfa Laval PureBallast 3.1 is the third generation of the company’s leading ballast water treatment system and more than 1,500 PureBallast systems have been sold to date, including more than 500 installed as retrofits. The UN Sustainable Development Goals were adopted in 2015 by the member countries end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. The SDG 14: Life Under Water includes 10 important steps that need to be taken to secure the life under water. Some of them needs to be taken as soon as 2020.
The conference “Connecting and Protecting Our Seas” - is taking place in Monaco 12 - 14 October 2017. Participants include H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and H.R.H. Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, as well as Swedish Minister of Environment Karolina Skog. The conference is focusing on science, business as well as cultural activities, highlighting the links between the Baltic and Mediterranean seas.
