Classification society DNV and Zakher Marine International (ZMI), owner and operator of Jack up barges and offshore support vessels, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Nor-Shipping trade fair today. Under the MoU DNV and ZMI will collaborate to identify and consider innovative solutions to reduce offshore greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. 

An exciting new addition to onboard carbon capture technologies from Hanwha Ocean, formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), has received ABS approval in principle (AIP).

Bureau Veritas (BV), a world leader in testing, inspection and certification, awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd – Hyundai Global Service CO., Ltd (HHI), TotalEnergies Gas & Power Limited, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), for wind assisted ship propulsion (WASP) on a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) and a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier.


Classification society DNV has awarded the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping in collaboration with Nordic Green Ammonia Powered Ships (NoGAPS) partners BW Epic Kosan, Yara, MAN Energy Solutions, Wärtsilä, Global Maritime Forum and Breeze Ship Design an Approval in Principle (AiP) for the design of an ammonia-powered gas carrier – the M/S NoGAPS.

Korean Register (KR) has awarded an AIP (Approval in Principle) for a 40,000 m3 LCO2 carrier developed by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in collaboration with KR.

At the Nor-Shipping trade fair, DNV signed a classification contract for four state-of-the-art Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs), ordered by Norwegian offshore wind operator Edda Wind.

Yara Marine has signed an agreement with DNV’s independent industry cloud platform Veracity that will allow users of Yara Marine’s Fleet Analytics performance management and reporting tool to utilize the power of the Veracity platform and DNV’s data verification services.
