Prevention at Sea (PaSea) has won more industry recognition for its innovative software development work in the maritime industry, by winning the Tanker Shipping & Trade Award for Technical Innovation.
Developed in conjunction with the Liberian Ship Registry, PaSea has once again shown that it is at the vanguard of the drive to minimise risk in the global shipping industry.
This award follows hot on the heels of similar accolades recently presented to the company including:
• May 2017 – Winner of the Lloyd’s List Americas 2017 Maritime Services Award
• October 2017 – Winner of the Lloyd’s List Intelligence Asia Pacific Innovation Award
• October 2017- Winner of the NAMEPA Marine Environment Protection Award for Innovation
It is also a finalist for the Lloyd’s List South Asia, Middle East & Africa Innovation Award on 28th November 2017.
“Gaining recognition from our peers in the industry fills me with a great sense of pride,” said Petros Achtypis, CEO of Prevention at Sea.
“I am really passionate about helping the fleet with operational risk reduction to lower the number of accidents at sea. This software is designed to make oil record book entry transparent, credible and traceable, so minimising the risk of fines from port state control inspections.”
“I founded Prevention at Sea in 2013 as I realised that there was a gap in the marine risk assessment services offered by third parties to help ship owners and ship managers reduce risk.”
“The International Safety Management Code requires the ship operator to periodically evaluate the effectiveness of the Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with procedures established by the ship operator. This requirement is usually fulfilled using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).“
“While this is important, Prevention at Sea also provides the client with a tool to help with the early detection of potential risk exposures before they can escalate. I call these Key Risk Indicators or KRIs,” he continued.
This information may include events, current conditions or trigger points that might signal issues developing internally within the operations of the vessel or potential business risks emerging from external events.
In this way, the client can rectify matters before they become serious incidents preventing unnecessary delays, loss of business or costly fines.
