The marine sector stands on the threshold of rapid transformation, driven in part by the emerging technologies that have the potential to truly reshape the world in which we live and operate and most certainly owing to the mounting pressure to cost-effectively meet environmental compliance in line with consumer-driven need for change.
Wärtsilä, understands both the complexity of the industry and the need to meet the new realities faced by vessel owners and operators the world over.
At this year’s Europort event, Wärtsilä will address how these customer needs are being met by focusing on four specific areas, namely BUILD, OPTIMISE, MAINTAIN and SMART MARINE.
BUILD involves the continuous development of Wärtsilä’s industry-leading portfolio. For example, extending the Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) to integrated voyage planning; developing e-navigation into integrated fleet operations, and enhancing voyage efficiency to become entire fleet efficiency. Wärtsilä also introduces its new high-speed, compact engine, the Wärtsilä 14, aimed at applications where the power-to-weight ratio, fuel type, efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance are key considerations.
OPTIMISE represents the need to create lifecycle solutions that deliver real value throughout the life of the asset. Wärtsilä introduces its Expert Insight, an holistic predictive maintenance solution that proactively detects issues, and provides the actionable advice required to solve them.
MAINTAIN highlights Wärtsilä’s online services, providing 24/7 access to real-time data and information. Trident Underwater Services and other repair and maintenance services will be highlighted, while the company’s SMART MARINE vision will be demonstrated with field labs on the stand. Alternative fuels, energy savings, hybrid propulsion, and smart technologies will all be featured.
