HMM Opens Direct Sea Line to Vietnam

Hyundai Merchant Marine announced on November 23 that it has opened the ‘Haiphong Danang Express Service’ (HDX) from Korea to Danang, Vietnam, for the first time as a Korean shipping firm.

HMM plans to provide the best service to customers who want direct transportation to Danang in Vietnam from Korea and China among others by putting two 1,000TEU class container ships into operation on the HDX route.
In particular, it is anticipated that HMM will be able to further strengthen its competitiveness such as maximizing its sales power through synergies with ocean service not only by satisfying the demand of Korean shippers, but also strengthening Asian region services expected to continuously grow through the new route.
“We have opened new services to preempt the Vietnamese market which is expected to record high economic growth and will need to transport higher volumes of cargo and meet the continuous logistics demand of Korean shippers in the future,” said a representative of HMM. “We will strengthen our services to transport cargo to Indonesia among others with a focus on the Asian region.”
The HDX Service (Haiphong Danang Express Service) covers the ports of Gwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, Haiphong, Danang, Hong Kong and Gwangyang and will begin at noon on November 23.
