Steel cutting ceremony for Carnival at Fincatieri

The unit is the fourth edition in Royal Class of ships

The steel cutting ceremony of the bow section of the new ship for Princess Cruises, brand of Carnival Corporation, was held in the last days at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia. The unit will be a sister ship of “Majestic Princess”, currently under construction in the shipyard of Monfalcone.

The section weighs about 10,500 tons and is over 130 meters long. It will then be transported by sea and assembled to the rest of the unit under construction in the yard of Monfalcone, where delivery will take place by the end of 2019.

The new unit will have a gross tonnage of 145,000 tons and will be able to accommodate 4,250 passengers on board. The vessel will represent a new technological benchmark in Europe and worldwide for its innovative layout, the outstanding performances and the top quality of its state-of-the-art technology. It will be the best proof that innovation and customer care are fundamental levers to stand out its market leadership and further consolidate Fincantieri’s historic partnership with the Carnival Corp., the world's largest leisure travel company.

Fincantieri has built 74 cruise ships since 1990, and other 27 ships are currently being designed or built in the Group's yards.
