The Greek flag was raised on the newbuilding tanker "KRITI FUTURE", of the AVIN group by the Greek Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Mr. Giannis Plakiotakis.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Greek Shipping and Island Policy the tanker "KRITIFUTURE", is the first ship that has been certified by the ABS with state-of-the-art design uses ammonia as an alternative fuel to reduce gas emissions for a cleaner environment and for a sustainable shipping
The Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Mr. Giannis Plakiotakis stated: "I feel special honor to attend today the ceremony of raising the Greek flag on the newly built tanker, an important moment that fills us all with optimism. For the ship ownership it is a day of joy as it increases and expands its fleet but at the same time proves in practice its offer in the homeland and shipping. For our shipping it is a proof that it remains a world leader and fills us with pride since the blue and white Greek flag will wave in all lengths and breadths of the world because it is a justification of our timeless choice to be close to the Greek navy, near the Greek ship. However, our presence here today is particularly symbolic because the rise of the blue and white Greek flag in "KRITI FUTURE" coincides with the completion of one year since we took the additional competitiveness measures that have already brought the first positive results since the applications for registration in the Greek register have increased by 61% compared to last year. It is the first tanker in the world that can use ammonia as a fuel in the future. So we can all be optimistic that the Greeks will not just be present the next day but will be the ones who will pave the way. They will be pioneers, pillars of world trade, but also of the prosperity of Greece. Our goal is to deliver a cleaner environment and a better future."
Mr. Plakiotakis expressed his gratitude to the Vardinogiannis family for their choice to raise the Greek flag on a ship that will be launched by Greek sailors but also because it has always supported the Greek flag with actions.
In conclusion, the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy added that "Greece deserves to have under its flag a strong fleet with the highest standards of safety and quality. This is a national goal of Mitsotakis government and we all serve it in calm times but also in difficult as it is today and we are day and night near the Greek ship near the Greek navy".
