As compliance with stricter regulations to reduce exhaust emissions from ships is one of the biggest challenges the marine industry faces today, a clear and detailed view on the latest development regarding new technologies and operational practices on this aspect is more than needed.
Answering this challenge, the Chinese CSIC brings to the Greek maritime industry a 360o view on the Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS or Scrubber), one of the top choices to achieve SOx regulatory compliance.
On 12 December 2018, at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, «Scrubbers 360o», a conference-like event with key speakers from many different maritime agents, is organised by CSIC, the Chinese giant – 233rd among the world’s top 500 in 2017, through the dedicated marine diesel engine institute SMDERI (Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute). Every sector of the industry will be represented at the event by a keynote speaker.
«We are excited and pleased that so many different opinions will be hosted in this event», commented Leonidas Drikos, CEO of Glafcos Marine, co-organizer of the event.
Different perspectives will come from: the maker (CSIC-SMDERI), the shipyard (Shanhaiguan), the Classification society (ABS, American Bureau of Shipping), the engineering-consulting office (Glafcos Marine), the Owners' considerations on Selection-Installation-Performance (CHANDRIS (Hellas) Inc.), the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) on Process Evaluation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning System, and other stakeholders coming from the financial side of this field.
