Petrofac completes world’s largest scale squeeze operation

Petrofac’s Anasuria operations team has successfully completed the largest scale squeeze operation in the world.

More than 50,000 barrels of treatment were injected into the Teal well – located within the Anasuria cluster in the North Sea – to dissolve and remove scale that had formed in the well and production tubing.
The most common industry practice for scale squeeze operations is to use a well intervention vessel. The Petrofac team developed an innovative programme by removing the vessel element, pumping the treatment directly from the Anasuria FPSO topsides through a 5.6 km pipeline. This innovative solution enabled the team to reduce the overall project lead time and produce a significant cost saving for our client Anasuria Operating Company (AOC).
The project was completed to schedule and budget, with no accidents or incidents, and has successfully increased production from the Teal field.
Earlier in 2016, Petrofac was awarded a Service Operator contract to support AOC on the Anasuria cluster in the North Sea. The cluster consists of a 100% interest in the Anasuria FPSO, Teal, Teal South, Guillemot A fields and a 38.65% interest in the Cook field.
